I had oysters from Oak Hill about 20 years ago. They were the briniest, freshest oysters I've ever had. Went to Goodrich this weekend with friends (a little drive from Melbourne). They got fish 'n' chips, the famous smoked fish dip, and fried green tomatoes. All excellent. Oysters? Well, I saw a teenager take a bunch out to the cleaning station, bang them apart, and start shucking. The young man had no clue about shucking oysters. Oak Hill oysters have a thin shell. This guy opened them from the far edge instead of the hinge. He broke most of the shells. He poured out the liquor. That is the worst sin any shucker can commit. By the time they got to me, they were dry. What was the worst offense? They were served with melted butter. RAW OYSTERS WITH MELTED BUTTER? Oh, and he forgot to cut the aductor muscle, so I had to do it myself with a a dull knife. What a waste of a spectacular oyster. Next time, I will ask for a dozen UNSHUCKED oysters, shuck them myself, and slurp down the really wonderful oysters in their liquor. Service? It was challenging for the staff. We wanted to sit outside and were told it was full, that five parties had just sat down, and we'd have to wait an hour. We pointed out the five empty tables. By the time we walked to the porch, they gave us a choice of three tables. Waited 10 minutes for drinks. Another 15 just to get the dinner order. 'K it was Friday evening at 6 pm, but the restaurant was only half full . Dinner and one drink took from 6pm to 8pm. A party of eight was seated 10 minutes after our party of four, and they got waited on first. But hey... It's Oak Hill. Go there and look at the staff. You'll understand

We will be going back to Goodrich's whenever we visit in the area. Amazing food, out of the way location, quiet and homey. We were there in the evening but would have loved to gone for lunch to sit on the deck overlooking the water. Good service, Friendly staff, good food with large portions.

Yes, what a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon ! It appears Goodrich's is under new management with a spruced up decor and friendly, courteous staff. The fish was cooked to perfection and we also loved the "yummy" fries and cole slaw sides. Comforting to know a part of old Florida remains in Oak Hill :)

Good old fashion seafood dive..... I love it. We have been here several times for all you can eat fish or shrimp... Oyster Stew at lunch is the best around. Great view, nice people

A super example of what a fish camp should be. Great seafood, friendly staff and a beautiful view. Eat out on the deck if you can find a seat! Nothing fancy here so don't expect it. Just plain good seafood.

Saw this place on Emeril's show... Mmmm the raw oysters are bar far some of the best I've had... All you can eat shrimp on Saturdays is something else

Goodrich's has only gotten better. Have never been disappointed in the service nor the food quality, taste, or portions. Had breakfast, lunch, and early and late dinner and no matter when we go it's always great. The fire roasted ouster platter is incredible as is the fish stew. One of the finest in the area.

This was pretty much one of the worst restaurants I've been to in my entire life. Everything was gross, no one knew what was going on, all of the staff was new, the food was terrible. The only thing it had going for it was a cute little cat that came begging for food--we were happy to oblige because it was not suitable for human consumption. The offer a "chowder bar" that was nothing more than tomato sauce with potatoes in it. sad :(

Delicious! The freshest oysters I've ever tasted. Great fish chowder, shrimp, crab, fish onion rings, and southern sides. Very friendly and astute staff. Nice indoor atmosphere and the dishes are reasonable. I love this place!

OMG the food is good. Fresh sea food with great flavor. I would definitely make the drive from Kissimmee again.

If you like honest Maryland crab cakes, this is the place. They butterfly the shrimp and fry with a light crunchy batter. The fish chowder is really good. I was very skeptical until I tasted it. Good deal since it comes with every meal.

I eat here regularly because I live 1 mile away and I can bring my dog. The view is gorgeous, from the deck on the water, the soft shell crab BLT is fabulous and the breakfast special at $3.49 is a deal. Beyond that the food is mediocre, the service is usually horrendous and it often looks like no one is in charge. There are often long waits, even when it's not crowded, which I never understand. If it wasn't on the water it would close in a month.

Not your typical seafood restaurant a bit out of the way but a place we meet friends a few times a year. I have always sat outside on the deck at a picnic table overlooking the water while hoarding my food from the birds. It's a beer and wine (I'm sure they all have screw on caps) place but the beer is always cold so I go with it. I've eaten gator tail, shrimp and oysters here always fried the food is not bad it's a relaxing place to watch the wildlife and boats cruise by. It's a great place to kick back in your flip flops and have a cold beer and good conversation don't over dress or you will look like a tourist we see a few now and then. :)

  • Bill B.

Sit out back on the deck. Very calm, great view. The food is fried for the most part and it is what you would think of typical fried clams, etc. I got the gator tail and it came iwth a hush puppy. Yes, I love hush puppies and you don't see them much any more. One in our party did not want seafood of any sort. They have options! The servers were friendly, the food was good. I'd go back.

All around this restaurant was terrible. The service was incredibly slow and inattentive, the food was mediocre at best and the atmosphere is great if you like eating on someone's back porch. Just don't. Go to McDonald's and save $30 with the same fulfillment.

What can you say about this place? Great food, staff and view! Can't get much better than that...

  • Julia K.

The food is fresh and fantastic!! The only reason that they are getting 4 out 5 stars is the service could have been a little better. We asked the waitress for a refill on the drinks long before we finished eating, but had to ask a second time (and a different person) after we were finished with the food.

Had dinner last night here sat outside by the docks and enjoyed the breeze. Both service and food were wonderful great seafood ! Must try the crab po boy, fish tacos and the amazing fish dip !

Great spot to get away from the crowds and let the kids run free. Great environment, great food, relaxing spot.

We loved this place. Our waitress, Vickie, explained the menu and tried to clarify our questions regarding unfamiliar items. My wife had the best fish sandwich of her life. I had the bay scallops. Very tasty. They appear to have a liberal substitution policy on sides as well. Very good. We will return

This place maybe wonderful for dinner, but we were here for breakfast. Service was really lacking here for breakfast. Although we were seated right away, our waitress didn't show for awhile. Once she did she took our drink order, and I asked her a question. Trying to decide what type of potatoes to order with my meal, I asked if the home fries were grilled or deep fried? She answered grilled. I ordered an ice tea, and the Southern Benedict, country biscuit, sausage paddy, poached eggs, country style gravy with home fries. The others in our party had a variety of poached eggs also. When our breakfasts were brought to our table all looked appetizing. I looked at my home fries and low and behold...wait...wait for it......they were deep fried!! At this point it's important to note that we never saw our waitress again, except for when she plopped a refill of my ice tea down on the table. What a little *****! I've often said that I have the utmost resect for waitstaff, I could not do their job. It's a hard, on your feet, mostly thankless job. This girl, JESSIE, should not be in the food service industry. Back to the food. Except for my eggs being inconsistent, one medium one hard, the food was OK. Nothing special, but not bad. BTW, JESSIE didn't even bring our check to us. We had to ask another server for it. Food 3 star Service 1 star Overall 2 star thanks to JESSIE.

After two days eating there, the food is good but the service stinks. Not great food but good and a nice variety. Should probably cook the fish Chowder before it is put out for folks to eat too. Patrons should not have to find their waitress after waiting 30 minutes for appetizers or drink refills. We were on vacation and had time but that was extreme.

We stopped here this past week for lunch. Sat on the back deck, which had a nice view of the intra coastal and was quite peaceful. I had the fish and chips (with sweet potato fries). It was okay, but a small portion. Did not completely fill me up (And I'm a pretty skinny girl). Only 2 pieces of fish and the sweet potato fries could have been cooked a bit longer. My husband had the blackened fish wrap, which he said was pretty good, but not impressive. He also ordered their Asian Salad - Which was a joke and the reason for 2 stars vs three. The "Asian" salad was about 1 cup of romaine lettuce, about 1/16 cup of slivered almonds and 1/16 cup of crunchy ramen noodles with a weak Asian style dressing. A very pathetic attempt at an Asian salad. It had no taste and was barely the equivalent in size of a side salad, yet they charged about $6.50. Definitely not even close to worth the money. McDonald's makes a much better salad for less money. The service was average, so no complaints there. Because everything was only average, we would not go there again. It's a very out of the way place and not worth the special trip.

I read about this place in a magazine and thought my family and I would try it. Since we are huge seafood fans. The food was just okay. For what you paid not worth the trip. For three of us for lunch we paid $90. I would ot recommend this place unless you were going for just the raw oysters which were excellent. The shrip baskets/ clam strips were nothing special and just bland.

I've been here a quite a few times by both land and water for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Goodrich is famous for serving very fresh fish, crab and shellfish, and has been here for as long as I've been fishing this part of Mosquito Lagoon. Now under new ownership, it has become even better. Breakfast begins at 7 and the breakfast entrees are hearty. Weather permitting, I prefer dining on the outdoor patio but there's always plenty of indoor seating available if it's too stormy or windy to dine outside. All of the grilled or fried fish dishes I've tried have been good as well as the baskets. The oysters, whether steamed or raw are always fresh. Be sure to check the fresh daily specials before you are seated. Goodrich's is a regular stop for me when I'm in the Oak Hill area even when I'm not fishing. If you are in the area, you have to stop in and eat here! It is fantastic for breakfast, at or near sunrise over the water! And if you are on a budget, even better, they have an early bird breakfast served 'til 9a for $2.99!!! You read it right, $2.99!!!! 2 eggs, 2 bacon/sausage, 2 pancakes/french toast and COFFEE!!! The seafood is also great if you are there other than at breakfast. Be sure to try the gator bites and any of the local fish!! Especially the grouper!

My friend and I discovered this restaurant recently and it has gone to the top of our favorites list. The AYCE shrimp are exceptionally tasty as are the onion rings. We have visited twice with friends and they both raved about the food and atmosphere. We will be back!

Went there with a group of 5 for a birthday and seen the show that Emeril did, Figured we would kidnap the bday boy and take him to this restaurant that he was impressed with on tv. WHAT A LET DOWN! You will leave starving. DO NOT ORDER A BASKET or you will be givin a snack. What food you did get, was good. OUT OF ALOT OF STUFF ON MENU one in the party had to reorder. Atmosphere? Pretty good, had to wait for a bout 30 mins for an outside table. I did order a dinner that came with a chowder that you have to go and get yourself. Well 2 of us forgot and asked if we could take it to go, and the cook said only one of us could take it in a Styrofoam cup they put drinks in. Believe me its not all that great to be hording it. HOPE YOU SAVE YOUR MONEY and dont take a hour and 45 Min drive just go to Long Johns.

My family and I were camping up the road and decided to take our 3 children out to eat there. We had checked in and had a 15 minute wait. we went outside and were sitting on the bench. Where we were sitting on the bench and the kitchen was right behind us. The windows were open and all we could hear was f... this and f... that, I dont care if we run out of mother f..... shrimp. I cant believe what we. were hearing, no less that our children had to hear. I went inside and told the hostess to take us off the waiting list and let her know what we were hearing. She did not even get a manager or owner to speak to me or to tell them what was going on. what a disturbing experience and would never go there, or suggest anyone go there due to the atmosphere. Very disappointed.

Usually a good trip but tonight was a glaring exception. We called ahead with a party of 9, not looking for special treatment but they were ready for us and we were sat quickly. Waitress came quick and took food and drink orders, we had all been before and knew what we wanted. Drinks took 15 minutes to come and we watched others sat after us get served before us. Talked to the manager after 30 minutes with no food served and were told that they forgot our appetizers, so they held back our main courses until the apps were done. Made no sense because the apps were served cold, as were the main dishes. Also, grandpa's coffee was served in a filthy mug, obviously used for another customer and not washed. The only bright side was the owner came out and was mortified and comped the entire tab, drinks and all. Might try them again, but it will be a long time......

A friend surprised me recently with a visit to Goodrich's. The 45 minute drive was completely worth it. Definitely off the beaten path, and definitely an establishment that has past the test of time. Don't expect any thrills. It's a bit bare bones, but the food, the surrounding lagoon and wildlife will keep your attention. I had their lunch special with the grilled mahi mahi and sweet potato fries. What a treat! Cooked to perfection. Finished with a slice of Coconut Cream Pie. No complaints there. Seat on the deck if possible. We got there at about 5p and the place filled up by 6p. Just a quarter of a mile down the road there's a park with a .5 mile walking path that explains the history of the region beautifully. It will make dining at Goodrich's even more spectacular.

Crusty & poor service. Location is nice. Food is good. Prices fair. But, I shouldn't have to pick garbage off a table when I sit at it, and I shouldn't have to wait more than 1/2 hour for a drink. So... come for the view & food, be mentally prepared for crust and slow service.

Another one of those great roadtrip finds. I am out with my brother in law to check out the trailer he is buying at one of the RV parks on Mosquito Lagoon. We were hungry it was around 11 am and the weather was perfect. Goodrich is right on the Intercoastal and we got a table outside on the water. Extensive Menu specializing in locally procured seafood like Mullet Flounder Shrimp etc. Alas we wanted breakfast and I opted for the Blueberry Pancakes. Our Server was downright friendly and professional. She knew her menu inside and out and advised me against ordering the full size version so I ordered the short stack. My brother in law choose a fried egg, Bacon english muffin. Both arrived hot in less than 10 minutes. The view is great all kinds of boats cruising the Intracoastal, very quiet. Back to my pancakes, 2 large six inch pancakes packed with Blueberries about 1/2 inch thick served with real Butter and Pancake Syrup (plain maple flavored). First bite I was a happy camper, they were moist ( I could tell this batter was not out of a box and just plain water) and sweet (probably a little bit extra sugar) fluffy and wow the blueberries. Barely used the syrup didn't need it because of the moist batter. (the server told me the chef uses egg whites only which makes them mositer) I am already looking forward to two weeks from now when I get to come back for dinner can't wait to try their other dishes. I will keep you updated.

My wife & I recently moved here from Orlando & discovered Goodrich! We feel like we discovered the List Continent of Atlantis! Found the quality of the food, ambiance, servers, staff and price of dinners to be exactly what we were looking for and have made Goodrich Seafood Restaurant our favorite dinner spot. We highly recommend it!!

Goodrich is one of our new favorite seafood places! This time, they had the fish dip. I can see why they ran out last time. They give you a lot and it's really tasty! Most restaurants give you one scoop of fish dip and crackers. Goodrich gives two scoops on a plate wtih tomatoes, jalapenos and red onions along with crackers. We devoured it. We were pleased to find out they had steamed oysters this time. My daughter got all they had left and enjoyed every one! The fried mullet was still great and I was thrilled that their fried shrimp were very good. I'm picky about fried shrimp! It was chilly on this visit, so we sat inside. There's not much to the decor, but we were there for the food. We couldn't believe there weren't more people there. If my husband weren't a mosquito lagoon regular fisherman, I'd never know where Oak Hill was. It's a nice 30-45 minute drive from Sanford and not too far from New Smyrna.
